HUTTO –– The name may be long, but the idea is simple.
One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of Hutto and Taylor, owned by Justin Smith and Saffon O’Rourke, will report to customers’ homes on time or the repairs are free.
And their work is backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
“Punctuality is everything to us,” Smith said. “That’s what the one hour means in the company name.”
He added the nationwide franchise prioritizes being reliable, exemplified by the company motto: “Always on time ... or you don’t pay a dime.”
“If we don’t communicate to the homeowner that we’re going to be later than the stated arrival window, the cost of the repair comes out of our business account,” Smith said.
He opened One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of Hutto and Taylor in January. O’Rourke originally was a contractor Smith contacted for new system installation jobs. After just a couple of months, O’Rourke joined the firm as a co-owner.
Though just 27 years old, O’Rourke has about 15 years of experience in the heating, ventilation and airconditioning industry. His family owns an HVAC business where O’Rourke helped out and learned the ropes from an early age.
“He’s the HVAC brains, I’m the business brains and we work really, really well together when it comes to running the business,” Smith said.
He grew up in a military family and the responsibility of serving others was a strong component of his upbringing. O’Rourke shares Smith’s ideology, and the duo teaches their technicians to treat every house call as if they were helping their own mothers.
The company offers transparent pricing with no hidden fees, and an optional membership subscription that provides regularly scheduled system tune-ups and discounts on repairs and service calls. There is also a free membership tier for activeduty military, veterans, first-responders and teachers, called the Hero’s Club.
“Our technicians are out right now inspecting systems and making sure that everything is wired up correctly, the electricity is good. We’ll wash down the outside unit and make sure there’s no dust and debris because that prevents airflow from getting in there,” Smith said.
O’Rourke said the maintenance memberships are helpful for anyone who doesn’t want to or who cannot physically change filters on their units themselves.
“The down to earth of it is we’re a family-based company and when we send our technicians to your home, you are now joining our family. You’re going to get top-notch service. You’re going to get an honest evaluation of your system. You’re also going to get a pretty accurate quote on the pricing of whatever it needs,” Smith said.
The company performs installations of heating and air conditioning systems and ductwork, maintenance and repairs, air-quality evaluations, emergency HVAC services and thermostat repair for customers throughout the area. They also work on mini-split (ductless) systems, mobile home systems and some commercial units.
